PLYMOUTH, MI, March 7, 2018– The Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (The Center) has announced the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors. Carla Bailo of the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) and Ed Terris of Peckham, Inc., will fill the final two vacancies on the Board. The announcement was made by Mike Coast, President of The Center.
Bailo brings with her a variety of qualities and connections that will benefit the Board of Directors. In her current role as President and CEO of CAR, Bailo leverages her 35 years of experience in the automotive industry to effectively lead the organization. Additionally, Bailo serves as the 2016-2018 Vice President of Automotive for SAE International, a global association comprised of more than 138,000 engineers and technical experts in industries such as aerospace, automotive and commercial-vehicle. Previously, Bailo held the position of Ohio State’s Assistant Vice President for Mobility Research and Business Development, where she helped the university accelerate sustainable mobility and transportation innovation.

She will bring a lot of experience, passion and insight to our group, as well as an impressive network of connections. We look forward to welcoming her to the Board.”
As Vice President of Manufacturing at Peckham, Inc., Terris has an established reputation for operational excellence. Due to his extensive experience with leading teams in continuous improvement initiatives, Terris has received a number of recognitions including placing first in Industry Week’s “Best Plants” award, as well as earning the Michigan Manufacturer of the Year award from the Michigan Manufacturers Association. In addition, Peckham recently received certification from the Department of Labor for its Master Craftsman Sewing Machine Apprenticeship program, the first-of-its-kind for sewing machine operators in the U.S. In the past, Terris has served in multiple operations and engineering management positions at multi-national firms within the automotive industry. In these roles, Terris gained experience with leading global product development teams that helped firms gain competitive advantages by capitalizing on product and process ingenuity. Terris also serves as an Adjunct Faculty Member for Central Michigan University.
