LAI International Inc. (Tempe, AZ) a provider of machined components, sub-assemblies and contract manufacturing services to the aerospace, military, energy and medical industries, has completed the audits required as a first step to become certified by NADCAP in the Additive Manufacturing (AM) process. The next step is for PRI NADCAP to present its audit results before the accreditation board for approval prior to issuance of a certificate.
“Our team has been instrumental in advancing AM capabilities around the world and now being the first company ever to have this EBM NADCAP certification validates all of our team’s hard work has paid off,” stated Patrick J. (PJ) Gruetzmacher, CEO and president of LAI International. “LAI Southwest is the first company in the world to be audited by PRI NADCAP Welding Additive Manufacturing EBM. LAI will be a point of discussion in the NADCAP June meeting. PRI NADCAP is attended by all the Primes in Aerospace and created the checklist that was used to validate the work performed by the LAI team. The auditor was very thorough and verified every checklist item with objective evidence.”
Late last year Ed Carey, the Site Leader of the Tempe Site, expressed a desire for his team to attain the certification of NADCAP for his Additive Manufacturing cell which comprises 2 Electron Beam printers and a Powder Removal System.
The technology insertion was led by Adam Rivard and Caitlin Oswald along with the site manufacturing engineer, Mathew Lewis over the last 18 months. LAI is certified in ISO9000 and AS9100 at all four of its sites and has recently been certified in ISO13485 for Medical products manufacturing.
