TROY, MI — Capture 3D Inc. (Farmington Hills, MI) this week is conducing its Innovation Conference and 3D Expo.
The gathering is “about networking and sharing ideas,” said Rick White, the company’s director of business development.
The conference is held every other year. It includes presentations by the company and its customers. The expo portion includes Capture 3D scanning machines on display. This year’s event is being held in Troy, MI, a Detroit suburb.
The 2018 edition began Oct. 2 and it runs through Oct. 4. The first day included training courses. The second day consisted of Capture 3D presentations. The final day on Thursday includes sessions from customers such as Volkswagen AG, BMW AG and GE Appliances, formerly part of General Electric Co.
Company presentations today included a talk by White about how innovation starts with an idea.
“Sometimes ideas come to the market before the market is ready for them,” White said. He provided a history of scanning devices produced by Capture 3D.
Capture 3D makes optical non-contact 3D measuring and inspection solutions. The company says it with companies to improve their design, manufacturing, production and maintenance processes. White’s presentation included details how the company’s machines have gotten faster and more precise over time.
The company says 3D metrology plays a role in product design, manufacturing, production, and maintenance. A display area had company machines in various sizes.
