The fifth edition of the Lightweight Vehicle Manufacturing Detroit Summit has been renamed the Lightweight Materials and EV Body Structures Manufacturing Technologies Summit. It is scheduled for Feb. 21-22, 2018 at the MotorCity Casino Hotel Resort in Detroit.
The conference deals with how automakers are utilizing mixed-material components to cut vehicle weight to help meet regulations calling for fleetwide fuel efficiency of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025.
The 2018 event will cover lightweighting innovations and practical solutions focusing on dissimilar material joining, corrosion mitigation and manufacturing new materials for vehicle large-scale production. It will also host a panel focusing on the current and future joining, manufacturing technologies to scale up production for EV vehicles.
